Assalamualaikum wbt,
In the first week of SCSH 1201, we were introduced to the concept of Sustainable Development and its significance. Here's what I reflected on by the end of this session.
1. Prof. Dr. Suhaimi explains clearly what is the meaning of sustainable means, sustainable means being able to maintain, while Sustainable Development is "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (The Brundtland Report, 1987). The concept also stresses the integration of environmental consideration into all aspects of environmental, economic, and social.
2. We were also introduced to the 5Ps: Dimensions of the SDGs, which discuss the goals and targets over the next fifteen years in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet. The dimensions are viewed by 1. People 2. Planet 3. Prosperity 4. Peace 5. Partnership
3. Besides that, the lecturer also talks about Sustainable Development Goals. I just found that the SDGs were created by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, but these goals actually evolved from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that ran from 2000 to 2015. In addition, the SDGs were used universally, which means for all countries, and divided into 17 goals, 169 targets, and 304 indicators.

Alhamdulillah good content
